Officer Information FAQ
Best place to start for reference is always the Detachment Forums
TUNIC, JODHPURS, HAT
you have several options that depend on your skill level with sewing, budget, and the quality/accuracy level you want.
First option is obvious to completely sew it yourself. The detachment has some sources for patterns (especially for the classic line officer), and if you have enough experience this can be a great option. The German Garrison does occasional accurate fabric runs. If you're self-making, this can be a great resource. The sales are done here: https://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/index.php?/forum/55-ongoing-sales-and-project-orders/
If budget is your main constraint, the cheapest priced tunic and jodhpur combo is CosplaySky: https://cosplaysky.ca/products/imperial-officer-uniform-costume-deluxe-version-new?variant=18234015907953
DO get the "Deluxe" version and send your measurements. SKIP the hat (it's not even vaguely accurate), and request extra fabric so you can make your own hat.
DO NOT GET THE OLIVE GREEN, it's very off color and will likely not be approvable in the near future.
Keep in mind you get what you pay for. It doesn't fit very well, and the quality is mediocre at best.
For the middle of the price range, two companies sell "Off the Shelf" sizes: Denuo Novo and WampaWear.
DN is a little more accurate, and a little more expensive. The quality is quite good in the material, though it may need some custom tailoring.
WW is a little less expensive, but their hat dimensions leave something to be desired. While approvable, they are less accurate.
Top of the price range is getting a uniform fully tailored. I've purchased several full costumes from Clothears and they have lasted over a decade and still going strong. They do full to-measurement tailoring and have an unbelievably high end product. It's priced accordingly however, so know that going in.
BOOTS
Boots can be an incredibly hard thing to find, especially if you don't fit "stock sizing". A very good source of new boots is Magnoli Clothiers: https://www.magnoliclothiers.com/falcon-boots-p-598.html
You can also search for Equestrian Riding Boots from a second hand equestrian store or even Ebay.
Code Cylinders
Depending on which character you're portraying, you'll need at least one code cylinder. The most common type is the blue capped "Type A". For these you'll either want Brass Clips (if you're matching an Original Trilogy Character) or Silver Clips (if you're any character from a Disney film or TV series).
There are currently two sellers that make these: Bailey Builds (me!), and PhiloProps.
Additionally, a few different code cylinders are used by various characters (The ISB Director and General Tagge for example). Be sure that you are not purchasing these types unless you're doing these specific costumes, as they're not approvable with other costumes!
Whatever you do, avoid modified chalk holder dosimeters. They look very bad, and their approval status is in question / to be removed.
BELT
For a belt, you can either purchase a completed one, or self make.
If self making, you'll need a 2" strip of leather, black dye, and some Line 24 snaps to make the belt portion. The buckle can either be purchased stand alone, or you can make one out of 1/8" aluminum and a miter saw.
For full belt sellers, the main three are Bailey Builds, WampaWear, and Darman Props
BELT BOXES
Belt Boxes are use for many of the costumes. There are THREE different sizes, based on which costume you're making.
Original Trilogy Boxes are big and riveted closed. Any Original Trilogy character uses these. They can be worn horizontally or vertically. BaileyBuilds Link. Philoprops Link.
Anthology Boxes are smaller than OT boxes, and are NOT riveted together. Any character from a Disney film or TV show that is NOT Andor wears these. At time of writing, they're only worn vertically. BaileyBuilds Link. Philoprops Link.
Andor Boxes (aka ISB) are the smallest. They only appear on the show "Andor" as of this writing. You want unpainted ones--painted boxes are for a trooper style build. BaileyBuilds Link. PhiloProps does not offer these for sale as of writing.
Rank Badges
Accurate rank badges are made of 1" bars of aluminum, with push buttons attached to them. Valid ranks are depending on costume and what it appears in.
Original Trilogy badges use smaller buttons.
Anthology badges use larger buttons more tightly spaced.
Skip on the plexiglass or acrylic buttons, they're much less accurate and may not be approvable.
If you want to make them yourself, you'll want 1"x1/8" aluminum stock that can be cut to size. You can source push buttons at Newark Electronics or other similar vendors. Most commonly used are the EAO 01-901 (OT) and EAO 31-901 (Anthology) parts.
If you'd rather buy a badge, there are several smaller vendors on Etsy (do your research first on accuracy!). The biggest seller of badges currently is Bailey Builds.
