Origin

Bailey Builds was founded in 2018 with one goal in mind; making costume parts that are awesome, accurate, and reliable.  In the years since, the company has grown largely through our great reputation and word of mouth from our customers.  

At the end of 2024, the store closed so the founders could move to Europe and pursue other passions.

Saddened for the Star Wars costuming community's loss of such a wonderful resource, in early 2025, Kalani Patterson stepped up to reopen the shop, with the full support of the original Founder, Ezra Bailey.  All remaining Bailey Builds stock and raw materials were transferred to a new California location, so Kalani could assume the mantle and carry on the business.

Kalani shares the founder's passion for Star Wars costuming, and parts that awesome, accurate, and reliable, and will do the Founders proud in continuing the shop's traditions.  All products continue to be hand made at our new US workshop unless otherwise noted.

Ezra Bailey continues to be involved in product design and development, and regularly works with Kalani to ensure the successful transfer of processes and techniques used to create Bailey Builds' high quality products.

 

Meet the New Owner

Kalani Patterson is a self-proclaimed lifelong Star Wars geek, and has been an avid part of the Star Wars costuming community since 2015.  He brings many prop-making skills to the table and will maintain the high quality bar that has been the basis for Bailey Builds' sterling reputation.

Kalani is a member of the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion, and has held varios leadership roles there for many years.  This helps ensure all products will meet the highest standards for customers.

When he's not making products for shop orders, researching obscure details of costuming parts, or taking part in charitable troops with the 501st and Rebel Legions, Kalani works in IT, spends quality time with his wife and child, and tries to keep his dog active enough to not destroy his home.

¡Hola, me llamo Sabel! I am the co-owner of Bailey Builds. I joined the business after meeting my wife, Ezra, and soon picked up the skills needed to create art alongside her. I love being able to work with my hands every day to create fun, nerdy, and accurate replicas for cosplay purposes. Cosplaying is a fun hobby for me and cosplaying as an officer from the Star Wars series has been my most recent costume.
Outside of cosplaying and making art, I love to garden, read, and take care of our (cat) “daughter” Margarita “Maggie” Gosia Salazar de Bailey—la reina de mi corazon. Yo soy orgullosa Peruana y Polaca. Mi herencia es gran parte de lo que me motiva a crear arte con mi esposa. Gracias por elegir apoyar nuestra pequeña empresa. ♡

Hey there and thanks for checking out our business!  Bailey Builds has been a love of mine for many years, and taught me so many skills including silicone casting, machining, injection molding, and leather work.  My favorite thing is when a customer sends pictures of their costumes, and seeing their happy faces!
One of my proudest achievements was being named one of SME's "30 under 30" in 2022.
When I'm not honing the craft or doing research for future projects, I'm often out taking photographs of birds in New England, or cooking up new recipes from around the world in my kitchen.
